Need a back drop stand with FLAT base... Any ideas?

I've seen these around but I can't figure out what they're called.

I want a back drop holder but the stand will have a flat base instead of the tripod. Anyone have any recommendation for a nice solid one that easy to set up but durable?

Does anybody think that pipe & drape is not professional?

oh well this is a professional looking one.. not like PVC piping or anything.. let me show ya.<div>
</div><div>however.. im not getting one that long. I only need the aluminum piping system, not really the drapes.. I rather that than the tripod stand.. i dont want people to trip.. (happened before)</div>

<font face="Arial, Verdana" size="2">The base isn't heavier, so it *will* tip over if someone falls over onto it, but we've never had that happen. Occasionally when they're trying to cram 20 people into a photo it will tilt back a bit, but it pops right back into place. If a group happens to be particularly drunk I'll keep a hand on it just to be sure. As we're normally setup against a wall anyway though, it's not a problem 99% of the time.</font><div><font face="Arial, Verdana" size="2">

</font></div><div><font face="Arial, Verdana" size="2">If you're interested I can dig up the supplier I ordered it from. The collapsible backdrop and the custom printed fabric are both top notch, they give you a bag to put the collapsed backdrop in which is horrible quality and falls apart straight away, but you can also get a more sturdy bag from them.</font></div>

Lawrence, I am looking into a new backdrop myself. I have a couple questions for you.<div>
</div><div>1. Do you know what the rough dimensions are? Like 7' x 7'</div><div>
</div><div>2. Is this a one person setup or does it require two people?</div>

We use pipe and drape setups and have used these two companies for our components, including bases:

It looks identical except that version seems to have a longer sort of track leg on each end.

Price seems right and according to the listing you may purchase one at a time as opposed to being required to buy several as a lot.
  • Unknown
Yep, they let me do that. Best to order multiple background fabrics at the same time if you want several different designs to save yourself on shipping.

The one I am looking at is this one. Submitted an inquiry on pricing and delivery.<img src="http://i01.i.aliimg.com/img/pb/627/763/398/398763627_019.jpg">

<font face="Arial, Verdana" size="2">That looks nearly identical, but I'm not sure what the pink things are, some kind of ties? We also don't keep the fabric permanently attached, I think that might result in some necessary wear.</font>

I agree on the removal of the fabric between installations. Well hopefully I will hear back from them in a day or two and I can get this show on the road.

<p>This is the one I use. It was originally 10' wide but I modified it and it is now 7'+ wide. I have also added a rod at the top so I can use a different backdrop in front. The original backdrop accepts Velcro so I can drape the entire background in a different color. It has a carrying case and the entire setup weighs about 60 lbs. It takes me about 10 minutes to assemble it.</p><p> </p>

hmmm.. i kinda like the curve, it helps the stability of it. Looks like Imma do it! work the extra money for the space, and the headache!

i think the pink things are magnets that keep the stand from decompressing back together.<div>
</div><div>Whats the pricing he gave you mike?</div><div>
</div><div>Im asking them at the moment to see if they do the customer printing for this. does it fit like a fitted bed sheet or is it only velcroed on?</div>

I priced multiple units with fabric prints of the one I linked to earlier in the discussion. They quoted $90 per pop up frames, $90 per fabric print and $250 s/h to Ohio.<div>
